President of Arjaa Institute Pays Official Visit to the Iraqi Council of Representatives: Joint Discussions on National Challenges and the State of Higher Education

As part of efforts to strengthen constructive collaboration between research institutions and legislative bodies, Dr. Serwan A. Ismail—former Member of Parliament and Secretary-General of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, and current President of the Arjaa Institute for Environmental Research, Sustainable Development, and Renewable Energy—conducted an official visit to the Iraqi Council of Representatives.

During the visit, Dr. Serwan met with Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah, Deputy Speaker of Parliament. The two engaged in an in-depth discussion addressing key national issues, including support for the political process, infrastructure rehabilitation, and the need to confront environmental, administrative, and economic challenges. The meeting emphasized the importance of institutional partnerships and activating collaborative frameworks to improve the quality of public services and national projects in alignment with the aspirations of Iraqi society.

Dr. Serwan also met with His Excellency Dr. Muzahim Al-Khayyat, Chairman of the Committee on Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the MP Mr. Firas Al-Maslamawi. Their discussions focused on the current state of higher education in Iraq, including curriculum development, academic staff training, and expanding international academic cooperation.

At the conclusion of the meetings, Dr. Serwan A. Ismail reaffirmed the Arjaa Institute’s commitment to providing technical and advisory support to Iraqi institutions—particularly in the fields of education, scientific research, and sustainable development—and to contributing to the formulation of a strategic national vision that advances Iraq toward a prosperous and knowledge-driven future.
